Accra:According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, German political scientist Anissa Saysay has described the recent speech by HM King Mohammed VI before the two Houses of Parliament as embodying a “clear, precise and responsible” strategic vision for migration management.
Saysay emphasized the importance of the links between migration, political responsibility, and international partnerships. She highlighted that Europe requires Morocco not only at its borders but also as a partner in managing migration challenges.
As a member of Germany’s ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Saysay called for Europe to stop viewing migration as solely a European issue. She stressed that it is a shared political responsibility necessitating joint action, with Morocco playing a strategic role in this context.
She noted that a forward-looking partnership should extend beyond border security and return procedures, involving co-development, legal mobility, economic opportunities, and skilled labor migration. Saysay pointed out that Morocco is no longer just a country between Africa and Europe; it is now a key player connecting the two continents.
Saysay concluded by asserting that a genuine strategic partnership must emerge, where common challenges are shared and jointly managed. The future key question is how Europe and Morocco can shape mobility and co-development through constructive dialogue and mutual respect.
