King Mohammed VI’s Speech Signals Shift in Migration Cooperation with Europe

Rabat:In a speech delivered by King Mohammed VI on Friday to the two Chambers of Parliament, marking the start of the first session of the first legislative year of the 12th Legislature, a significant change in Morocco’s approach to migration cooperation with Europe was highlighted.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, U.S. scholar Samuel Millner pointed out that this section of the Royal Speech indicates Morocco’s intention to define its cooperation framework with European countries independently, moving away from traditional rhetoric and controversy.

Millner noted that this new approach is expected to enhance Morocco’s standing as a credible partner, emphasizing its readiness to propose its own solutions rather than awaiting initiatives from Europe. He also acknowledged that the existing model of migration cooperation had reached its limits.

Under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Morocco is preparing to present a document to its European partners outlining a strategic vision aimed at fostering co-development, improving economic competitiveness, and ensuring regional stability.
