Le Figaro Highlights Beauty of Morocco’s Medinas

Morocco: Morocco’s medinas are more desirable than ever this spring, driven by the increase in direct flights from Paris and other regional cities,” writes the French daily Le Figaro.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the French outlet’s “Travel” section highlights the cities of Fez, Rabat, Essaouira, and Chefchaouen, where travelers can discover the distinctive features that make each of these cities unique worlds of their own, with their landscapes and culture. The newspaper notes that Morocco has not been this green in a long time, pointing to wheat and barley fields embroidered with wildflowers and fragrant gardens that enhance the beauty of Moroccan medinas.

In the city of Fez, all the senses come alive in spring. The article marvels at the scent of orange blossom distilled in the secrecy of riads, which perfumes the streets of the medina, considered one of the most beautiful in Morocco. This former imperial city bears witness to the golden age of Arab-Andalusian civilization.

Rabat, the administrative capital, now stands out as a major destination, winning over travelers’ hearts. The city boasts many assets, notably an exceptional natural site with the Bouregreg river estuary that separates it from Sal©, along with a refreshing climate and a rich and diverse heritage.

In Essaouira, spring awakens the colors, as trade winds bring musicians, artists, and travelers back to its shores, spreading the diverse influences on which the former Mogador has always thrived. Meanwhile, in Chefchaouen, known as the city of blue, this vibrant hue is visible in every corner of its medina, although the origins of this passion remain unclear.

Le Figaro also recommends visiting Ouarzazate, where everything invites visitors to slow down, from postcard-perfect landscapes to deeply authentic hospitality.
