Marrakech: Morocco is betting on technology to foster a new model of sovereignty, based on renewed digital governance and reinforced by artificial intelligence (AI), Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni said on Tuesday in Marrakech.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform intends to mobilize national and international stakeholders to chart a unifying path for Morocco in the realm of new digital governance enhanced by AI. Seghrouchni emphasized that global technological competition is not just about investment and industrial capacity but also about scientific sovereignty, expressing Morocco’s ambition to invent a new game.
Seghrouchni elaborated on Morocco’s technological challenge, stating the country’s goal to demonstrate its ability to build a technological power defined not by domination but by the capability to unite and put innovation at the service of development and the common good on a global scale. She highlighted Morocco’s potential to embody a third way in digital technology and AI, based on four foundational pillars: operational technological sovereignty, authentic modernity, balanced technological power, and a strategic compass for international dialogue.
By positioning itself as a balancing technological power, connecting Europe, Africa, and the Atlantic amid shifting global power dynamics, Morocco aims to offer more than just a hub; it seeks to provide a unifying force. This was the conclusion Seghrouchni reached during her address.
