Malawi Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Territorial Integrity, Welcomes UN Resolution 2797

Rabat: Malawi has reiterated its support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its territories, emphasizing its approval of the recently adopted UN Resolution 2797. This stance was articulated by Dr. George Chaponda, Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during discussions with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Dr. Chaponda, on his inaugural working visit to Morocco, endorsed Resolution 2797, which was adopted by the UN Security Council on October 31. The resolution supports Morocco’s autonomy plan, presented as a serious and credible framework for reaching a political resolution to the long-standing Sahara dispute. The adoption of this resolution is seen as a reinforcement of Morocco’s territorial integrity and a step towards a lasting solution.
