MAP Holds 40th Board of Directors Meeting in Rabat

Rabat: The Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP) held its 40th Board of Directors meeting on Monday in Rabat, chaired by Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid. During the meeting, which was attended by MAP Director General Fouad Arif and members of the Board, the Agency’s budget and action plan for the 2026 financial year were approved, as well as the moral and financial reports for the year 2024.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Bensaid emphasized that MAP is among the fundamental pillars of the public information and communication system in Morocco, noting that the Agency, as a national institution, plays a major role in the national media landscape. He highlighted the particular context of the meeting, marked by significant changes in the global media scene and dynamic reforms in Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The minister further stated that the Sovereign’s Strategic Vision over the past two decades has prioritized communication, media, and p
roximity to citizens within the development project. He stressed the strategic role of public media, particularly MAP, in not only transmitting information but also in explaining, contextualizing, and analyzing it to support major reforms and initiatives in Morocco.

Bensaid noted that 2025 was characterized by strong professional editorial and operational mobilization within MAP, notably during major national events, including the historic speech by His Majesty King Mohammed VI following the Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2797. This resolution enshrined the Autonomy Plan as the sole credible basis for resolving the Moroccan Sahara dispute. MAP’s comprehensive multilingual media coverage successfully highlighted the event’s political, diplomatic, and symbolic dimensions.

Fouad Arif emphasized MAP’s commitment to a strategic vision that consolidates its status as a national information reference while assuming its role in the Kingdom’s media sovereignty. This aligns with the directives of His Majes
ty King Mohammed VI, focusing on public communication and citizen guidance.

MAP’s public service mission, as outlined by Arif, involves producing reliable, educational, and accessible information that fosters debate, explains public actions, and reinforces trust between institutions and citizens. This mission is aligned with the Royal Vision and the operational implementation of MAP’s projects.

Karim Hosni, MAP’s Secretary-General, presented the 2024 moral and financial reports, the budget, and the action plan for the 2026 fiscal year during the meeting. He also reviewed comprehensive statistics regarding MAP’s outputs, including news dispatches, MAP TV-MAP audio, photography, and infographics.
