Moroccan Authorities Seize Almost 93 Kg of Cocaine at El Guergarat Border Post

Dakhla: 92.9 kg of cocaine were seized Sunday at the El Guergarat Border Post, south of Dakhla, during a joint security operation between the National Police and Customs aimed at thwarting an international drug trafficking attempt. Authorities uncovered a drug shipment during border control and search operations, discovering it hidden carefully within the fuel tank cavities of an international goods transport truck registered in Morocco, coming from a sub-Saharan African country. The 25-year-old driver was arrested for his alleged involvement in this operation, according to a security source.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, a preliminary investigation has been launched under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to clarify the details of the case, identify all the individuals involved, and uncover the ins and outs of these criminal acts both within Morocco and on a regional and international scale, the source added.

This joint operation is part of the ongoing efforts by various security services at the El Guergarat border post to combat international drug trafficking, psychotropic substances, and all forms of transnational crime.
