Morocco and France Hold Talks on Women’s Employment and Gender Equality

Rabat: Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, met with France’s Minister Delegate for Gender Equality and the Fight against Discrimination, Aurore Berg©, for discussions on women’s employment and economic inclusion. The meeting, held in Rabat, focused on strategies to enhance female participation in the labor force by addressing structural barriers, advancing gender-responsive budgeting, and promoting inclusive economic models such as women’s cooperatives and the social economy.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Fettah highlighted that women’s employment is a strategic national priority for Morocco, particularly in the face of high unemployment and the increased vulnerability of women’s jobs during economic downturns. She noted the country’s advancements in gender-responsive budgeting and emphasized the importance of improved impact assessments and measurable outcomes.

Berg©, on her part, underscored the need to tackle deep-rooted inequalities that hinder women’s access to the labor market. She pointed out issues such as gendered career paths, unequal caregiving responsibilities, and rigid work structures. Berg© advocated for a comprehensive approach that integrates gender equality into both corporate practices and public policy.

The meeting is part of Berg©’s three-day official visit to Morocco, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation on social, political, and economic issues, with a special focus on promoting equality and inclusion.
