Dakhla: Morocco’s Royal Navy intercepted on Saturday, some 185 km southwest of Dakhla, a pirogue carrying 201 would-be irregular migrants attempting to reach the Canary Islands.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the rescued individuals, who included women and minors, were brought back safe and sound to the fishing village of Roc-Chico (190 km southwest of Dakhla), as stated by a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces. After receiving the necessary medical care on board, they were then handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie to complete the standard administrative procedures, the same source added.
