Rabat:The speech delivered by King Mohammed VI on Friday before the Parliament delineates a clear political path to bolster Morocco’s ambitions as an emerging economy. This strategy is supported by inclusive development and reciprocal international partnerships, as noted by Italian foreign policy expert Gianni Lattanzio.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the King’s address highlights that safeguarding Morocco’s strategic interests hinges on its economic strength, social cohesion, and the trust of its citizens in national institutions. Lattanzio, who serves as the Secretary General of the Institute for Cooperation with Foreign Countries, identified four interconnected domestic priorities economic development, youth employment, social justice, and regional strengthening.
The speech outlines strategic initiatives in water, energy, and food security, as well as industrial development, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence. These strategies aim to modernize the country while protecting national interests, emphasizing the importance of enhancing productive capacities and securing essential supplies for robust development.
On foreign policy, the King stressed the importance of defending Morocco’s strategic interests and expressed a commitment to redefining cooperation with European partners. Lattanzio noted the speech’s acknowledgment of progress in these partnerships while asserting the need for a more balanced, effective, and mutually responsible model of cooperation.
