Agadir: Officers in Agadir, acting on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), apprehended a suspect on Friday evening for alleged involvement in a criminal network engaged in international drug trafficking, according to a security source.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the joint security operation was carried out in the rural area of Oulad Kerroum, near the city of Oulad Teima. Searches conducted on an agricultural property led to the arrest of a 66-year-old suspect and the seizure of a utility vehicle loaded with 105 bales of cannabis resin (Chira), amounting to a total of 4.328 metric tons. A rubber dinghy and a second light vehicle were also confiscated.
The suspect has been placed in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, while authorities aim to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case and identify all individuals connected to these illicit activities.
