Rabat: In a statement to MAP, Belgian politician Andr© Flahaut commended the recent Royal Speech as ‘realistic and free of any triumphalism’ following the UN Security Council’s formal support for Morocco’s autonomy plan. Flahaut noted that this Royal approach opens up significant prospects for advancing regional cooperation and integration.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Royal Speech acknowledges the growing international support for Morocco’s position and interprets the UN resolution as a new starting point for a lasting solution and a united Maghreb. Flahaut praised the relevance of HM King Mohammed VI’s Vision, which advocates for cooperation benefiting the entire region.
Flahaut also highlighted the far-sighted Vision of HM King Mohammed VI, which has led to diplomatic successes for the Kingdom on both bilateral and multilateral levels by promoting a ‘coherent’ solution to the long-standing artificial conflict. He emphasized that Resolution 2797 is likely to usher in a new phase in resolving this conflict and strengthen the development momentum in the Southern provinces, transforming them into a hub for co-development and regional cooperation. Flahaut noted that ‘the implementation of this resolution will help ensure the prosperity of the entire Maghreb region.’
