Rabat: In a statement issued following the adoption by the UN Security Council of the new resolution on the Moroccan Sahara, the party emphasized that this Royal Vision ‘has enabled our country to secure a historic and decisive diplomatic achievement in an artificial conflict fomented against the Kingdom’s territorial integrity for nearly half a century.’
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, building on this UN resolution, which carries strategic significance, the Popular Movement noted that political parties are fully aware of the requirements of this strategic turning point, which enshrines the autonomy plan under the sovereignty of the Kingdom and within the framework of its national and territorial unity.
The party also called for ‘accelerating the implementation and activation of parallel diplomacy plans – involving parliament, political parties, trade unions, civil society, and economic actors – in order to counter potential maneuvers by opponents of Morocco’s territorial integrity and to promote the regional development model in the southern provinces.’
The next stage, the statement concluded, ‘requires the various institutional actors to redouble their efforts to speed up the implementation of the next-generation of advanced and expanded regionalization, in the spirit of national and territorial unity.’
It also urged to design public policies adapted to local specificities, effectively and concretely reflecting the High Royal Guidelines on integrated territorial development.
