Rabat: Resolution 2797, which enshrines Morocco’s autonomy initiative for the Sahara as the basis for a definitive settlement of the conflict, is hailed as “the culmination of a long process” in which the role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI was both pivotal and decisive.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the resolution received solemn and formal support from the UN Security Council, which will help accelerate the process of ending the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara. This development has been met with great joy and immense pride by the Moroccan people following the Speech delivered by the Sovereign after the adoption of this resolution.
Furthermore, a Belgian expert highlighted that the Moroccan Sahara region, possessing “enormous potential,” is poised to become a hub for co-development with an impact that extends beyond the Kingdom’s borders. This aligns with the Royal Vision for the economic integration of West Africa and Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean. In this context, the expert emphasized the importance of development projects and investments undertaken by Morocco in the Southern provinces, which are expected to transform the region into a key economic hub and a vital center for regional cooperation in the near future.
