RNI President Says UN Resolution on Moroccan Sahara Paves Way for Development in Southern Provinces

Rabat: “This historic resolution reflects the foresight and wisdom of the Royal leadership, which has made the national cause a cornerstone of Moroccan diplomacy,” said Akhannouch. “Today, the first national cause is experiencing a pivotal moment in a favorable international context, following Friday’s UN recognition of the Moroccan autonomy initiative as an essential reference for resolving the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.”

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Akhannouch emphasized that this “fair and equitable resolution paves the way for constructive dialogue and compromise, in a spirit of neither winner nor loser, preserving the dignity of all parties, in accordance with His Majesty the King’s latest Throne Speech, reaffirmed yesterday.” Morocco, he affirmed, aspires to a future marked by greater social and economic development, as well as peaceful and prosperous coexistence in the southern provinces.

In this context, Akhannouch stated that “the UN Security Council resolution, which places all parties before their national responsibilities, constitutes a historic opportunity to build a regional space of coexistence and prosperity.” After saluting the leadership role of His Majesty the King in safeguarding the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, the RNI President affirmed that “since His accession to the Throne, His Majesty the King has remained the bulwark that keeps the national cause in a safe space, protected from any threat to territorial unity.”

According to him, this reflects the very essence of the Sovereign’s foresighted vision, which has made this year a turning point – from a logic of management to a logic of transformation.
