Rabat: The Moroccan national football team has secured its place in the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following a decisive 3-0 victory over Zambia in a Group A match held at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ayoub El Kaabi was instrumental in Morocco’s success, scoring the opening goal in the 9th minute. Brahim Diaz extended the lead in the 27th minute, and El Kaabi sealed the win with another goal, showcasing his prowess with an acrobatic overhead kick. This victory allowed Morocco to finish the group stage at the top of the table with 7 points.
El Kaabi and Diaz now share the lead in the temporary scoring charts with Riyad Mahrez, each having scored three goals. Prior to this match, Morocco had defeated Comoros 2-0 and drawn 1-1 with Mali in their earlier group stage encounters.
