Morocco Advances to Round of 16 in AFCON 2025 After Defeating Zambia


Rabat: The Moroccan national football team qualified for the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by defeating Zambia 3-0 in a Group A match played on Monday evening at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ayoub El Kaabi opened the scoring for the Atlas Lions in the 9th minute of play, before Brahim Diaz doubled the lead with a goal in the 27th minute. El Kaabi secured the victory by scoring another goal with an acrobatic overhead kick.



With this victory, Morocco finishes the group stage at the top of the table with 7 points. El Kaabi and Diaz have joined Riyad Mahrez at the top of the temporary scoring charts with three goals each.



On the first and second matchdays, Walid Regragui’s men beat Comoros 2-0 before drawing 1-1 with Mali.
