Morocco Arrests Individual in Agadir over AFCON Ticket Scalping

Agadir: Agadir’s Judicial Police arrested Friday an individual suspected of ticket scalping for the African Cup of Nations football tournament, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the DGSN’s information monitoring services spotted posts on social media illegally selling tickets for AFCON games. A security source revealed that technical investigations and field inquiries identified the suspect as a 37-year-old man who was apprehended near a large shopping center in the city.

Control and search operations linked to this case led to the seizure of several tickets for football matches scheduled as part of the competition in the suspect’s possession, along with a sum of money suspected to be proceeds from this illegal activity, the same source reported.

The suspect is undergoing judicial investigation procedures under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. These procedures aim to clarify the details of this case and establish the criminal acts attributed to him, the source concludes.
