Rabat: Morocco has clearly and rightly made it known to Spain that it will not allow its relations with a neighboring country to be used for short-term electoral gains, said Moroccan-American expert and scholar, Mohamed Daadaoui.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Daadaoui emphasized that this is a very direct message from the Kingdom to Spain. Morocco will not allow its relations with a neighboring country to be manipulated for short-term electoral gains or used to divert attention from internal political conflicts. This statement was made in light of recent remarks by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.

For the Moroccan-American expert, the reference to geography in the statement issued by the Ministry is ‘particularly important.’ Daadaoui highlighted that Morocco reminds Spain that while proximity cannot be changed, the nature of bilateral relations can evolve. He argued that with political courage and strategic vision, geography can foster cooperation, security, and shared prosperity.

Daadaoui also warned that without such vision and courage, the proximity between Morocco and Spain risks becoming a constant source of mistrust and recurring crises. The scholar noted that the Kingdom has called on its northern neighbor to move beyond campaign politics and manage this relationship with the seriousness, consistency, and long-term vision it requires.
