Rabat: The clarifications provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the latest developments in Morocco-Spain relations serve as a reminder that Morocco cannot serve either as a “scapegoat” or as “pre-election fodder,” said Mohamed Zakaria Aboudahab, professor of international relations at Mohammed V University in Rabat.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, through these clarifications, the Kingdom is calling for strict compliance with mutual commitments to combat criminal networks within a framework of trust and transparency, while firmly denouncing any attempt at political instrumentalization aimed at undermining bilateral relations, Aboudahab told MAP.

Morocco has also reaffirmed its full readiness to engage in fruitful cooperation with Spain to combat not only irregular migration, but also criminal networks, he added.

Recalling the strength of Morocco-Spain relations, as well as all the gains achieved on several fronts, including the economic and security fields, Aboudahab noted that the Kingdom has consistently worked to strengthen these ties within a framework of mutual respect and transparency.

According to the same source, Spanish and foreign actors are attempting to disrupt this relationship with Morocco for electoral purposes, to the detriment of the gains accumulated by the two countries over the years in various fields.
