Rabat: Morocco and Belgium have signed a cooperation agreement focusing on the peaceful use of nuclear energy. This strategic partnership was formalized by Hamid Marah, Director General of CNESTEN, along with Peter Beten and Derrick-Philippe Gosselin, who serve as Director General and Chairman of SCK-SEN, respectively. The agreement is aimed at fostering the exchange of experience and enhancing scientific research, teaching, and training to strengthen regional and international expertise in the use of research reactors.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, both CNESTEN and SCK-CEN are recognized as International Centers based on Research Reactors (ICERRs) by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This recognition underscores the significance of the collaboration between the two entities, as they work together to advance knowledge and skills relevant to nuclear energy research and application.
