Morocco: Morocco has shouldered its share in combating illegal immigration with great responsibility and commitment, said political analyst and academic Atik Essaid, describing the management of the issue as a shared duty based on international cooperation. The countries of origin, transit, and destination are all concerned, Essaid told MAP, stressing that handling this issue cannot rely solely on the efforts of one party or on unilateral initiatives. Rather, he said, it requires all stakeholders to honor their commitments within a framework of cooperation and mutual coordination.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the political analyst noted that Morocco’s efforts in this regard are not linked to current or specific circumstances; rather, they reflect its firm commitment to addressing the issue alongside its partners. For the Kingdom, he added, the objective has always been to seek lasting solutions by getting in the way of human trafficking networks and strengthening the legal framework governing regular migration.

Regarding the return of unaccompanied minors currently in Ceuta, the academic said that “the Spanish authorities are legally and morally called upon to assume their responsibilities and expedite the process of family reunification with their families in Morocco, in accordance with procedures that take into account their specific status as children in need of enhanced protection and care.”
