Morocco-France Parliamentary Forum Highlighted as Unique Platform for Bilateral Cooperation

Rabat: The Morocco-France Parliamentary Forum has been recognized as a vital platform for consultation and cooperation, with limited parallels globally, stated Ya«l Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly, during the opening of the 5th session of the Forum in Rabat.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Braun-Pivet highlighted that the Forum aims to expand and solidify the cooperation between Morocco and France. She emphasized the tangible nature of their interparliamentary cooperation, supported by institutional twinning between the House of Representatives and the French National Assembly from 2022 to 2024, which has fostered increased exchanges and the sharing of best practices.

Braun-Pivet expressed confidence in the ability of their legislative bodies to create substantial outcomes, reinforcing the friendship between the two nations. She noted the geopolitical importance of the Morocco-France partnership, citing Morocco’s role as a regional stability pillar and France’s advocacy for a comprehensive strategic partnership between the European Union and Morocco.

The President of the National Assembly also touched upon the enduring French-Moroccan friendship, referencing France’s support for Morocco’s significant challenges. She praised the recent United Nations Security Council resolution affirming autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the foundation for a fair and lasting solution.

Braun-Pivet remarked on the extraordinary bond between the two countries, underscored by strategic closeness and a reinforced partnership, highlighted during President Emmanuel Macron’s State visit to Morocco in October 2024 at the invitation of King Mohammed VI. She acknowledged the shared destinies of the two nations across the Mediterranean, facing global issues such as terrorism and climate change together.

Reflecting on past observations, Braun-Pivet concluded by noting that French-Moroccan relations are experiencing a “new golden age,” evident in the thriving cooperation observed today.
