Rabat: Speaking to the press following the meeting, Al-Barrak indicated that the meeting delved into bolstering the ties between the two countries and improving trade exchange while strengthening bilateral cooperation, mainly in the fields of transport and railways.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the ties between Morocco and Iraq in transport go back to the 1970s, reiterating the two parties’ determination to restore the momentum that marked the period and strengthen joint cooperation.

For his part, Kayouh said that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss several issues of mutual interest, pointing out that it has been agreed to implement four agreements on maritime, air, and rail transport.

He also mentioned the possibility of resuming the direct air links between Morocco and Iraq, stating that ‘it is high time that we relaunched direct flights between Casablanca and Baghdad.’
