This meeting, which took place in the presence of Libyan Ambassador to Morocco Ibrahim Ataweel and High Commission for Planning (HCP) officials, was an opportunity to discuss cooperation horizons between both countries’ authorities and their importance for economic development.
Speaking on this occasion, Lahlimi said that Libya is a sister country with which Morocco has historic relations, further noting that cooperation and coordination with the Libyan Council of Planning will allow for expertise exchange.
Referring to the importance of planning for both countries, the High Commissioner for Planning said that it is necessary today, more than ever, to unify efforts in the field of planning and statistical studies, especially in the face of current challenges, including climate change and the geopolitical situation.
In this sense, he recalled the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that Morocco is committed to achieve, adding that the New Development Model (NMD) places capital emphasis on sustainable development.
For his part, Libyan Planning Council Chairman stressed that choosing Morocco as an economic partner is a decision that emanates from the Kingdom’s great experience in planning as well as its significant achievements in sustainable development.
He also said that Morocco’s HCP is a prestigious organization with extensive experience in statistical studies, further noting that this meeting will allow the Council to rebuild the country’s development path. “This is the beginning of a fruitful cooperation.”
