Rabat: During a pivotal meeting, officials from Morocco and North Macedonia showcased their commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations. Hejira and Dimitrovski, representing their respective nations, lauded the quality of the existing ties and underscored the importance of aligning trade activities with the substantial economic potential both countries possess.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, discussions during the meeting revolved around exploring new partnership avenues, focusing on promising sectors, and promoting investments. The leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing relations between economic operators from both nations. Dimitrovski highlighted the significance of this visit as part of broader political consultations aimed at deepening economic relations and refining the framework of bilateral agreements.
Morocco is seen as a strategic gateway to Africa and a bridge between Europe and the African continent. Dimitrovski revealed efforts underway to establish a free trade agreement, which is set to encompass multiple economic sectors of shared interest. North Macedonia is also planning to increase its imports from Morocco as part of this initiative.
In the realm of tourism, Dimitrovski pointed out Morocco’s appeal, particularly in the Balkans, and proposed a direct flight connection between the two countries to boost tourist traffic and cultural exchanges. He praised the transformative developments in Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and expressed North Macedonia’s eagerness to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Hejira, on his part, noted that the meeting provided a platform to discuss Morocco’s ongoing transformations and the bilateral relations with North Macedonia. He stressed the significance of such meetings in strengthening bilateral dialogue and exploring new cooperation opportunities in trade and tourism.
Additionally, Hejira announced the planning of a Moroccan-Macedonian business forum set for June 2026 in Morocco, timed with the next Macedonian delegation visit. This forum aims to foster partnerships between the economic operators of both countries and facilitate the conclusion of concrete trade agreements.
These discussions underscored the mutual aspiration to establish a dynamic bilateral relationship, paving the way for a robust and future-oriented economic partnership.
