The Kingdom and Germany are linked since 2018 by an agreement in the field of green hydrogen, which is considered an ecological alternative to fossil fuels, recalls the newspaper.
Regarding future exports from Morocco, Focus emphasizes the possible transport by pipeline, which is considered “an advantage, given the scarcity of transport vessels.”
According to the national hydrogen strategy, Germany is currently prepared to invest two billion euros, notes the same source, which understands that most of this sum will be used to expand cooperation with countries in North Africa and the Middle East.
“The war in Ukraine and the resulting energy crisis require quick solutions. To move away from fossil fuels, other resource-rich countries could be the key to a new energy strategy for Germany,” the same source added.
“Whether it is gas, hydrogen or ammonia, Germany will always be an energy-importing country. The quantities required in this country can not be produced internally,” noted the publication.
Morocco and Germany had reaffirmed, on August 25, their shared willingness to strengthen dialogue, political, economic, cultural and people-to-people relations, to promote democracy, the rule of law and good governance, to develop trade and investment and to cooperate on climate policy, biodiversity policy and green energy solutions.
