Marrakech: Morocco is emerging as a prime destination for major international film productions, as highlighted by renowned Italian actress Monica Bellucci. Speaking at a press conference during the 7th Marrakech International Film Festival (MIFF), Bellucci described Morocco as a showcase for both local and global emerging talent through the festival, which celebrates artistic diversity in its entirety.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Bellucci expressed her honor in participating for the third time in the festival, which brings together the greatest names in cinema from all over the world. She referenced her documentary film, “Maria Callas, Monica Bellucci: An Encounter,” by Greek director Yannis Dimolitsas, which was screened on Sunday as part of the Festival’s 11th Continent section. The film is described as recounting “the meeting of two souls and follows the work of an actress seeking to perfectly embody a character.”

ply moved by the letters of the great opera singer Maria Callas. She was struck by Callas’s powerful words, vulnerability, and disarming sincerity, which motivated her to share these fragments of life with the public. The film is portrayed as an artistic adventure embarked upon on stage, where Bellucci magnificently embodied the role of Maria Callas, highlighting the soprano’s career, moments of glory, and weakness. With this documentary, Bellucci continues her commitment to preserving the poignant legacy of this famous Greek soprano.
Bellucci also remarked on her experience wearing a Moroccan caftan during a scene, noting that this traditional Moroccan garment symbolizes “femininity and great elegance.”
