Rabat: On High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of FAR and Commander of the South Zone, co-chaired a significant meeting in Rabat on Monday. The event marked the 22nd Meeting of the Moroccan-French Joint Military Commission, attended by General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, discussions between Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid and General Thierry Burkhard centered on numerous facets of bilateral military cooperation, as well as the prevailing regional and international security situation. The General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces highlighted in a press release that both parties praised the robust cooperation between Morocco and France’s armed forces, which continues to fortify their longstanding ties.
The meeting also spotlighted the commitment to enhancing the partnership between the two nations, a m
omentum further driven by the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron. The discussions extended to planning military cooperation activities for 2024 and 2025, reflecting a forward-looking approach to their alliance.
In a related event, Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration, met with General Thierry Burkhard at the Administration’s headquarters. Both officials expressed satisfaction with the current trajectory of friendly and cooperative relations. They also explored opportunities to expand collaboration into areas such as space, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, specifically for the armed forces and defense industry.
