Rabat: National team head coach Mohamed Ouahbi called up a 28-man squad on Thursday for the Atlas Lions’ upcoming friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay at the end of March.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the list was announced during a press conference at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. It features several debut call-ups, including Redouane Halhal from KV Mechelen, Issa Diop from Fulham, Samir El Mourabet from Strasbourg, and Mohamed Rabie Hrimat, who is the captain of AS FAR. The squad also includes U20 world champions Isma«l Baouf, Yassir Zabiri, and Yassine Gessime.
As part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup, the Atlas Lions will face Ecuador in Madrid on March 27, followed by Paraguay in Lens on March 31. Morocco has been drawn into Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.
The full squad list includes goalkeepers El Mehdi Benabid, Yassine Bounou, and El Mehdi Al Harrar. Defenders named are Achraf Hakimi, Zakaria El Ouahdi, Issa Diop, Isma«l Baouf, Abdelhamid At Boudlal, Redouane Halhal, Chadi Riad, Souffian El Karouani, Anass Salah-Eddine, and Noussair Mazraoui.
Midfielders Azzedine Ounahi, Isma«l Saibari, Bilal El Khannouss, Samir El Mourabet, Neil El Aynaoui, Oussama Targhalline, and Mohamed Rabie Hrimate have also been selected. The forwards include Brahim Daz, Yassine Gessime, Ayoub El Kaabi, Yassir Zabiri, Soufiane Rahimi, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Chemsdine Talbi, and Amine Adli.
