Morocco Thwarts Attempted Trafficking of 12k Psychotropic Tablets

Tetouan: Police officers in Tetouan thwarted, on Friday, on the basis of precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), a trafficking attempt of 12,000 psychotropic tablets, a security source said.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this security operation in the city of Tetouan also led to the arrest of two individuals, aged 21 to 32 years, for their suspected connection to a criminal drug and hallucinogen trafficking network, the same source added.

The two suspects were caught red-handed, possessing and trafficking psychotropic tablets in a light vehicle, and the ensuing searches led to the seizure of 12,000 ‘Rivotril’ psychotropic tablets and a sum of money suspected of being the proceeds of these criminal activities.

The two suspects have been placed in custody pending a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to uncovering the ins and outs of this case and identifying any possible ramifications of this criminal activity.
