Rabat: More than 2.74 million expatriates entered Morocco up to August 3, representing an increase of 0.45% compared to the same period the previous year, highlighted Omar Moussa Abdellah, project manager and supervisor of the “Marhaba” operation at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, as a guest on the program “Obour,” broadcast Tuesday on Radio Tanger-Med, Moussa Abdellah specified that the number of expatriates who have entered the national territory from the launch of the “Marhaba” operation until last Monday stood at 2,741,570 people. He added that the number of vehicles entering the national territory up to August 3 amounted to 287,518 units, a decrease of 12.43% compared to the same date in 2025. He explained this decline by the fact that many expatriates opted for carpooling this year due to the high cost of traveling by car.
The official noted that recent days have been marked by an acceleration in expatriate arrivals by sea, which reached 1,430,811 people by August 3, accounting for 52.19% of total entries. In this regard, he highlighted the key role of the Tanger Med port, which alone welcomed 512,693 travelers, or 35.89% of the total expatriates arriving by sea, followed by the ports of Nador, with 200,013 travelers, and Tanger Ville, with 168,240 passengers.
Regarding entries by air, Moussa Abdellah indicated that the Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca took the lead with 333,490 travelers, or 25.44% of the total expatriates entering Morocco by plane. This was followed by the Marrakech-Menara Airport (225,086), the Tanger-Ibn Battouta Airport (167,147), and then the airports of Nador and Rabat-Sal©, which welcomed 119,487 and 119,452 travelers respectively. He specified that total air entries amounted to 1,310,759.
Concerning the progress of this first phase of the “Marhaba” operation, he emphasized the constant mobilization of all stakeholders to guarantee the best transit and travel conditions for expatriates wishing to visit their families and stay in their country of origin.
