Heatwave and Thundery Showers to Impact Moroccan Provinces from Mid-Week


Rabat: A heatwave, along with thundery showers accompanied by a risk of hail and strong wind gusts, is expected from Wednesday through Friday in several provinces of the Kingdom, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announced.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, an orange-level weather alert has been issued for a heatwave with temperatures ranging between 44°C and 47°C from Wednesday to Friday in the provinces of Errachidia, Taroudant, Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab and Aousserd.

The same weather phenomenon, with temperatures ranging between 39°C and 42°C, is forecast for Wednesday in the province of Essaouira.

The DGM also forecasts thundery showers, accompanied by a risk of hail and strong wind gusts, with rainfall accumulations of 20 to 35 mm, on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., in the provinces of Midelt, Boulemane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Taroudant and Ouarzazate.
