Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi Shortlisted for 2025 Ballon d’Or


Paris: For the first time in his career, Achraf Hakimi, the right back for the Moroccan national team and French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has been included among the 30 players shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d’Or. The list was published on Thursday, ahead of the award ceremony set for September 22.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the 26-year-old defender, known for his contributions in attack, both with his national team and club, has an impressive record from the 2024-2025 season, recording 63 matches, 13 goals, and 15 assists. During this period with PSG, he secured victories in the Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Trophée des Champions. He also reached the finals of the Club World Cup held in the United States.

In addition to Hakimi’s nomination, Morocco’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has been shortlisted for the Yashin Trophy, which honors the world’s best goalkeeper. Bounou’s remarkable 2024-2025 season included 56 appearances and 20 clean sheets, further highlighting Moroc
co’s strong presence in international football.
