Rabat: Morocco’s National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) published on Friday its wildfire risk bulletin for the period of September 11 to 15, based on scientific prediction models and analysis of data related to forest types, combustibility, flammability, as well as topoclimatic parameters and maps that precisely identify high-risk areas across the country.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, an extreme fire risk has been identified in the provinces of Fahs-Anjra, Tangier-Asilah, Taounate, Essaouira, and Taroudant. Meanwhile, a high risk has been noted in the provinces of Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Larache, Ouezzane, Tetouan, M’Diq-Fnideq, El-Hajeb, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khemisset, Rabat, Salé, Skhirate-Temara, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Benslimane, Settat, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, Al Haouz, and Agadir Ida-Outanane.

A moderate risk is reported in the provinces of Driouch, Nador, Taourirt, Guercif, Maknes, Ifrane, Khenifra, and Midelt. ANEF thus urges residents living near
forests, summer visitors, tourists, and professionals working in forested areas to exercise the utmost caution and take all necessary precautions to prevent fire outbreaks.
