Rabat: Morocco’s Court of Accounts organized a meeting in Rabat on Friday to discuss with development partners the strategic support for international Supreme Audit Institutions.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this meeting forms part of the Court of Auditors’ mandate as Secretary General of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) and the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions with Jurisdictional Functions (JURISAI), according to a press release from the Court of Accounts.

This major event brought together ambassadors from countries holding leadership positions within AFROSAI, States contributing to development programs, international technical and financial partners, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

On this occasion, the Court of Accounts outlined the roles of these two organizations and their strategic guidelines to build capacities o
f their member institutions, as well as the challenges they must overcome to achieve their objectives.

It also expressed its commitment, both in its capacity as Secretary General of these organizations and as the Supreme Audit Institution of Morocco, to work toward promoting South-South cooperation, guided by His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s unwavering commitment to the African continent.

For their part, participants commended the leadership of Morocco’s Court of Accounts, as well as its pledge to strengthening capacities of Supreme Audit Institutions, members of AFROSAI and JURISAI, and to furthering South-South cooperation.

Furthermore, technical and financial partners expressed their willingness to back initiatives aimed at assisting Supreme Audit Institutions in ensuring the proper use of funds allocated to development and in strengthening the trust of citizens and donors, the press release concluded.
