Rabat: On the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of the National Defense Administration, received Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren OBE, British Senior Military Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa, on Tuesday in Rabat.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting, attended by the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Rabat, was an opportunity for the officials to commend the strong historical ties between Morocco and the UK, along with their thriving military cooperation. The discussions were centered around the robust track record of their military partnership, which includes the regular convening of the joint military commission, high-level official visits, military training, and enhanced interoperability through joint exercises.

The cooperation between the two nations is underpinned by significant legal frameworks, such as the 1993 Framework Agreement for Military and Technical Cooperation and the 2013 Status of Forces Agreement and Mutual Support, among other technical arrangements.

During the meeting, Loudyi emphasized Morocco’s commitment to South-South cooperation and regional integration initiatives under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, positioning Morocco as a proactive contributor to the stability and prosperity of the African continent.

Vice Admiral Ahlgren recognized the leadership of His Majesty the King, acknowledging Morocco’s role as a stabilizing force in the MENA region. Both parties concluded the discussions with a mutual commitment to further enhance the bilateral military cooperation in the future.
