Rabat: Morocco’s achievements under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in various fields highlight a strategic vision that prioritizes knowledge and culture as essential levers for progress, according to Mohamed Ould Amar, the Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, in an interview commemorating Throne Day, Ould Amar emphasized that Morocco has made significant strides in recent years, reflecting a strategic vision that centers on human development by leveraging knowledge and culture. This vision positions the Kingdom as an active player within the Arab joint action system in the realms of education, culture, and science.
Ould Amar noted that Morocco has successfully enhanced the development of these sectors by viewing them as investments in human capital. This approach promotes knowledge, preserves cultural identity, and serves as a foundation for sustainable development. ALECSO is closely monitoring Morocco’s efforts to reform its education system by improving planning quality, modernizing programs, strengthening educational staff training, and advancing digital transformation and innovation to align with global changes and future demands.
On the cultural front, Ould Amar remarked that Morocco has solidified its status as a civilizational and cultural hub in the Arab world. This achievement is attributed to its initiatives in safeguarding and promoting tangible and intangible cultural heritage, supporting cultural and creative industries, and fostering culture as a medium for dialogue and rapprochement among nations.
Regarding Morocco’s involvement in ALECSO’s activities, Ould Amar highlighted the organization’s strong strategic and historical partnership with the Kingdom, characterized by trust and ongoing cooperation. He emphasized that Morocco has been a proactive partner in ALECSO’s journey, contributing significantly to its programs, activities, and initiatives.
The Director-General of ALECSO acknowledged Morocco’s prominent role within the organization through its active participation in conferences of Arab Ministers of Education, Culture, Higher Education, and Scientific Research. Morocco also contributes its expertise to ALECSO’s scientific and technical advisory committees and hosts numerous Arab events and meetings related to the organization’s areas of expertise.
Discussing ALECSO’s presence in Morocco, Ould Amar mentioned the Bureau of Coordination of Arabization in Rabat, a key scientific institution under ALECSO. Since its inception, the bureau has been instrumental in promoting the Arabic language by unifying scientific and technical terminology, developing specialized dictionaries across various fields, and keeping pace with rapid scientific and technological advancements.
