Morocco’s Economic Growth Slows to 4% in Q2-2026

Rabat:Economic growth in Morocco reached 4% in the second quarter of 2026, marking a slowdown from the 5.8% growth recorded during the same period in 2025.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the High Commission for Planning (HCP) reported contrasting dynamics within different sectors. Non-agricultural activities saw a significant decrease in growth, dropping from 4.9% to 1.5%, while the agricultural sector experienced a substantial increase, with its value added rising by 21.2% compared to 8.3% a year earlier.

The growth was primarily driven by domestic demand, occurring in a context of controlled inflation but a worsening financing requirement for the national economy. The primary sector’s value added saw a strong increase of 20.9% in Q2-2026, supported by growth in agricultural activities and fisheries.

Conversely, the secondary sector’s value added contracted by 3.9%, a reversal from the 5.8% increase in the previous year. This decline resulted from decreases in mining and extractive industries, m
anufacturing, construction, and the electricity and water sectors.

The tertiary sector also experienced a slowdown, with its value added growing by 4%, down from 4.5% in the same quarter of the previous year. At current prices, Morocco’s GDP grew by 4.4% in Q2-2026, indicating a slowdown in the general price level to 0.4%.
