Rabat: Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita engaged in a telephone conversation with Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Afrah Al-Zouba to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as to discuss the latest developments in Yemen and other mutual concerns.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during the call, Al-Zouba updated Bourita on the evolving situation in Yemen, particularly the recent escalation by Houthi terrorist militias along the western coast and at Bab al-Mandeb. She emphasized the Yemeni State’s right and responsibility to safeguard its citizens and maintain the security of its coasts, ports, and territorial waters.

The Yemeni news agency SABA highlighted Al-Zouba’s commendation of Morocco’s steadfast support for Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Morocco’s involvement in the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy, led by Saudi Arabia, and its enduring support for Yemen’s state institutions following the Houthi coup, were particularly noted.

The agency also acknowledged Morocco’s significant support for the Yemeni people, especially through educational scholarships aimed at broadening areas of joint cooperation.

Bourita reaffirmed Morocco’s unwavering support for the Presidential Council, the legitimate Yemeni government, and Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He underscored Morocco’s backing of Yemen’s efforts to safeguard its safety and confront threats, as well as any measures that strengthen state institutions and ensure regional security and stability.

In an effort to bolster dialogue and collaboration, Bourita extended an invitation to Al-Zouba to visit Morocco, marking a step towards deepening bilateral relations between the two nations.
