Morocco’s FM Confers with UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in New York


New york: Morocco’s Foreign Minister met with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. During the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with the partnership between their countries and reiterated their dedication to implementing the agreements signed. They also emphasized their commitment to the provisions in the joint communiqu© from the 5th session of the Morocco-United Kingdom Strategic Dialogue, held in Rabat on June 1, 2025.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the joint communiqu©, signed by Mr. Bourita and his British counterpart, highlights the United Kingdom’s view of the Moroccan autonomy initiative as “the most credible, viable and pragmatic basis for a lasting resolution” to the regional dispute concerning the Moroccan Sahara. The document further notes the United Kingdom’s confirmation that “UK Export Finance may consider supporting projects in the Sahara,” especially within the framework of “the UK Export Finance’s commitment to mobilize £5 billion to support new economic projects across the country.”
