Morocco’s Third AU PSC Seat Reflects Trust, Says Head of Govt


Addis ababa: As the 39th African Union Summit kicked off in Addis Ababa on Saturday, Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch underscored Morocco’s election for the third time to the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC), noting that it reflects the trust placed in the Kingdom.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during the review of peace and security reports, Akhannouch emphasized that Morocco’s election recognizes the Kingdom’s efforts for continental peace and reflects the credibility of its approach, based on cooperation, consultation, joint action, African solidarity, and respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Head of Government underlined that Africa cannot achieve development amid conflict and uncertainty, recalling the central role of the PSC as the privileged framework for strengthening crisis prevention and resolution, and for creating the conditions essential to sustainable development.

In this regard, he recalled that under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Moha
mmed VI, Morocco, as a founding member of the Organization of African Unity, has consistently ensured that its actions follow an active and responsible approach, faithful to its unwavering commitment to peace, security, and stability on the continent.

His Majesty the King, as the AU Leader on migration issues, has continuously deployed sustained efforts to make migration a genuine economic lever for the continent, focused on strengthening stability, implementing inclusive development strategies, and preventing crises, added the Head of Government.

The 39th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the AU began Saturday morning in Addis Ababa with the participation of the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, who represents His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
