Rabat:Secretary-General of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, announced that the party has yet to finalize its political stance for the upcoming phase. This statement was made on Wednesday following his meeting with Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, who has been appointed to form the new government.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Benabdallah emphasized that a thorough and ongoing debate is currently underway within the PPS since the elections, and the party has not made a definitive decision regarding its approach moving forward.
He pointed out that the PPS’s position is also influenced by the stances of other national political parties. The party intends to continue its internal discussions to determine the most suitable political positioning.
Benabdallah mentioned that the PPS will wait for the conclusion of the initial round of consultations, which may lead to another meeting, before considering various potential options. He also highlighted the historic nature of El Mansouri’s appointment as Head of Government, marking the first time a woman has assumed this role in Morocco.
The discussions with El Mansouri allowed for an exchange on key policy directions of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) as well as issues significant to PPS members. The meeting reaffirmed core principles of the PPS, including the importance of strengthening democratic space, freedoms, and rights, alongside promoting integrity in public life, which remains a significant societal concern.
