NEW YORK: President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in New York on Friday evening to participate in the upcoming 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
President Abbas is scheduled to deliver a speech before the UNGA representing the State of Palestine on Thursday, September 26. During his visit, he plans to meet with various world leaders to discuss the latest developments in Palestine.
The 79th session of the General Assembly commenced on September 10, under the theme “Unity in Diversity to Promote Peace, Sustainable Development, and Human Dignity for All Everywhere.”
This session marks a historic moment for Palestine, as it officially gained a seat among member states during the opening session held last Tuesday, following a resolution passed in May.
