Prime Minister Shtayyeh says Israel committed a new crime in its assault on Jenin and its refugee camp

Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh today condemned the Israeli military assault on the northern West Bank city of Jenin and its refugee camp, which so far claimed the lives of seven Palestinians and the injury of dozens of others, describing the assault as a new crime. Speaking at the start of the weekly Palestinian cabinet meeting held in Ramallah, Shtayyeh accused Israel of attempting to wipe out the Jenin refugee camp, stressing that the Palestinian people will not surrender to this aggression, but they will resist it 'until the demise of the criminal occupation.' He said that the Israeli government, which seeks to resolve the conflict through aggression, realizes that the oppressed peoples, fighting for their freedom and independence, will eventually be victorious. Shtayyeh called for an immediate halt to the aggression in Jenin and to punish Israel for its terrorism and the terrorism of its settlers.
