RAMALLAH: The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said that since the beginning of the Israeli genocide in October 2023, the Israeli occupation authorities have been pursuing a policy of detaining students and denying them their right to education.
A report issued on the eve of the Tawjihi results, the high school matriculation exams, said the Israeli occupation has escalated the policy of detention against students of all ages and levels, including university students.
The report said that since the beginning of the genocide, the number of detention cases among students of all levels is estimated to be in the hundreds.
According to the statistics of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, 55 high school students are among the students who have been detained. Many of them are placed in administrative detention, citing secret evidence as a pretext.
PPS further tackled the crimes carried out against students in Israeli jails, including depriving them of education and unprecedented medical negligenc
