New York:United Nations Qatar has reiterated its support for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, along with the Moroccan autonomy initiative, at the 4th Committee of the United Nations General Assembly. This move is aimed at reaching a “realistic and lasting” settlement regarding the Moroccan Sahara.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the representative of Qatar described the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a ‘constructive initiative’ that provides an objective basis for any genuine and lasting solution to the issue.

Qatar has also reaffirmed its support for the United Nations Secretary-General’s efforts to facilitate a lasting and mutually acceptable political solution. This is to be achieved within the political process aligned with Security Council resolutions, especially resolution 2797, ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Morocco.
