Moroccan King’s Speech Outlines Economic and Strategic Priorities

Amman:A recent speech delivered by King Mohammed VI before the Parliament has laid out a clear political roadmap for Morocco’s economic ambitions as a rising economy, emphasizing inclusive development and international partnerships based on reciprocity.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Italian foreign policy expert Gianni Lattanzio highlighted that the King’s speech underscores the importance of a strong economy, social cohesion, and public trust in institutions for defending the country’s strategic interests. Lattanzio, who serves as Secretary General of the Institute for Cooperation with Foreign Countries, identified four interconnected domestic priorities economic development, youth employment, social justice, and regional strengthening.

The speech also introduced strategies in water, energy, and food security, as well as in industrial development, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence. These strategies aim to align modernization with safeguarding national interests, emphasizing the need to enhance productive capacities and secure essential supplies for robust development.

On the international stage, the King’s address focused on the importance of defending Morocco’s strategic interests and redefining cooperation with European partners. Lattanzio noted that while acknowledging progress in these partnerships, the speech calls for a more balanced, effective, and mutually responsible cooperation model, moving away from the outdated current framework.
