Rabat: By Order of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, a significant meeting was convened at the Royal Office, chaired by His Majesty’s Advisors, Talb Fassi Fihri, Omar Azziman, and Fouad Ali El Himma. The meeting included heads of national parties represented in both Houses of Parliament, the Minister of Interior, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting was held to update and detail the formulation of the autonomy initiative within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty. This aligns with the Royal Decision outlined in the Sovereign’s Speech on October 31, following the adoption of Resolution 2797 by the Security Council. The gathering exemplified the steadfast commitment of His Majesty the King towards implementing a participatory approach and broad consultation on major national issues.
Advisors of His Majesty the King briefed the political party leaders on the Sovereign’s intention to involve them in this crucial ma
tter. They were urged to submit their organizations’ visions and proposals for updating the autonomy initiative. The political party leaders welcomed the positive developments in the Moroccan Sahara issue and expressed pride in the Royal Decision to involve national political bodies and institutions in developing an integrated and detailed vision for the autonomy initiative.
The heads of political parties reiterated their commitment to supporting His Majesty the King’s initiatives to defend Morocco’s legitimate rights and consolidate the Moroccanness of the Sahara. They acknowledged the Security Council’s adoption of a resolution enshrining the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a realistic solution, supporting territorial integrity and national unity as the foundation for negotiations to resolve the regional conflict.
In conclusion, the political party leaders affirmed their dedication to submitting memoranda on the subject to His Majesty the King in His August Person at the earliest opportunity.
