Royal Speech Highlights Call for Good Neighborliness and Shared Prosperity, Says U.S. Analyst

Washington: The speech of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, delivered on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Sovereign’s accession to the Throne, is described as “a sincere call for good neighborliness and shared prosperity” throughout the region and beyond, according to Ilan Berman, vice-president of the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington. The speech presents a well-defined and forward-looking vision of regional co-development, emphasizing a shared future and calling for new partnerships to benefit the region’s peoples.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ilan Berman highlighted Morocco’s consistent advocacy for open, responsible, and sincere dialogue, particularly with neighboring Algeria. He pointed to the increasing international support for the Autonomy Proposal, which is regarded as the sole solution to the ongoing conflict over the Moroccan Sahara. This growing support is seen as a result of the unwavering commitment to justice and legitimacy led by the Sovereign.

Berman noted that the Kingdom of Morocco has achieved significant diplomatic progress in recent years in favor of the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in 2007 as a definitive resolution to the regional dispute over the Sahara.
